At JMP an extensive range of sponge sheeting is available for a wide variety of applications. These sheets are available in either standard sheet sizes or can be curt to specification.

Further information on each of the sheeting types listed below is also displayed on the Sheeting Types page where specification sheets can be downloaded. The types of sponge sheeting on hand at JMP include:

Acrylic Impregnated Foam Closed Cell Polyethylene
Bitumen Impregnated Foam Closed Cell SBR
Filter Foams Closed Cell EPDM
Open Cell Foams Closed Cell Neoprene

Closed cell sponges should not be compressed more than 20% of original thickness. Over compression will increase the compression set and in extreme cases damage the cell structure of the sponge. The types of sheeting on hand at JMP include:

Acrylic Impregnated Foam Closed Cell Polyethylene
Bitumen Impregnated Foam Closed Cell SBR
Filter Foams Closed Cell EPDM
Open Cell Foams Closed Cell Neoprene

Acrylic Impregnated Foam

This is an open cell polyurethane foam impregnated with an acrylic resin. This product is used as an sealing strip where the gap between the 2 surfaces is very thin. This product can be squashed to almost nothing.

Bitumen Impregnated Foam

This is an open cell polyurethane foam impregnated with bitumen used in the automotive and building industry as a sealing strip.

Filter Foams

These are a range of open cell foams with various cell sizes to allow different size particles to be filtered.

Open Cell Foams

These include Polyurethane foam and sea sponge. Polyurethane foam comes in varying density with the main uses being upholstery furniture and packaging.

Closed Cell Polyethylene

PX 33 is an expanded closed cell polyethylene sponge. The closed cell construction makes it ideal for packaging, gaskets, strips, expansion joints, and applications where the bolt load is insufficient to use solid materials such as rubber.

Closed Cell EVA

PE 60 is an expanded closed cell EVA sponge. The closed cell construction makes it ideal for packaging, strips, leasure equipment such as camping mats and peaks, and for promotional goods such as mouse pads and desk pads. It is heavier and firmer than our PX range and has better recovery.

Closed Cell SBR

Styrene Butadene Rubber (SBR) closed cell expanded rubber, is used for many sealing applications due to its good memory and closed cell properties. SBR has good resistance to Air and UV; this makes it ideal for interior and exterior sealing applications. SBR has good anti-vibration properties but is not recommended for oil rich environments.

Closed Cell EPDM

Ethylene Propylene Dyene Monomer (EPDM) closed cell expanded rubber, is an excellent weather resistant seal. Due to its good air and UV resistance it can be used indoors and outdoors. EPDM has a poor resistance to oil.

Closed Cell Neoprene

Neoprene Sponge is an excellent material to be used in oil or grease applications. It has a slightly higher temperature rating than other expanded closed cell rubbers. For self-extinguishing requirements refer to the SE grade of Neoprene.
